What is life like at the heart of Elim Crawley? What are we really all about?

Eventually on this site you'll be able to hear what life is like for Elim-dwellers from Elim-dwellers! Over the years we have tried to sum up our objectives in three words: glorify; grow; go. It might sound a little simplistic - hopefully not shallow - but it has helped us to think and talk about the kind of church we want to become. A church that glorifies God in heartfelt praise and in the way we live our lives. Both are important. Glorifying God is about singing and shouting. Yes, it is about more than that, but it's never about less than that.

We can never praise God enough. He deserves praise forever and ever. Father - Son - Spirit God. Creator, Redeemer, Empowering Presence. And we want to be a church that lives the glory. We want our lives to be open windows that reveal God's glory, not frosted ones that obscure magnificent Jesus. Growing together in Christlikeness. That kind of expresses our desire to be practical about our faith. Being a Christian is about growing more like Jesus - and that is something we do together. Being a Christian was not meant to be one man / woman and his / her Bible. Jesus died to bring about a community of people who through the Spirit would shine with His glory. Going to a lost world in the power of the Spirit. We want lost people to know they are loved by God and we want God to be loved by lost people. The Spirit helps us to bring God and people together.

What does all that look like in real life Elim Crawley? For some, it's finding a new start. For others, it's being connected to people who help each other to follow Jesus. For some, it's discovering and using abilities they didn't realise they had. For others, it's discovering new purpose and meaning in where they are every day.

It's expressed in meetings, large and small. In work places. In homes. Among friends. And every new person adds their own distinctive contribution.

That's Elim Crawley. Well, sort of. "Sort of" because you can never adequately explain or describe what the Spirit is doing in the church. To get a better idea you have to jump in and experience it for yourself.

Thanks on behalf of the church
